WAP

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a way of accessing information and services on the Internet from a mobile handset. This protocol was created for the purpose of overcoming the limitations imposed by the size and display abilities of mobile handsets.

WAP services can be accessed using GPRS – a new technology for transmitting data over the mobile network with speeds of up to 53.6 kb/s, where you will be charged only for the quantity of transferred data, regardless of how much time you spend on the Internet. WAP services can be used without restriction by all Telenor subscribers with handsets that support WAP. Telenor has created a new WAP portal for its subscribers, as the first station on the global mobile Internet, with many entertaining and informative sources that are updated on a daily basis.

If you are accessing WAP contents for the first time it is necessary for you to make certain modifications to your handset. Certain handset models can enter these settings automatically, by way of an SMS message.

The automatic configuration of your handset for WAP access can also be performed directly from the Telenor website. By entering your telephone number on the configuration page you will send a configuration message to your handset, which should be saved upon reception.

Automatic configuration for WAP access.

Note: If you have a GPRS handset, you need to activate the GPRS service by calling the Telenor Call Center, in addition to configuring the handset.

If you own one of the models that cannot be configured automatically you can manually enter the special parameters into your handset. The parameter for accessing WAP over GPRS are:
  • WAP gateway IP address: 217.065.192.033
  • APN: internet
  • Username: telenor
  • Password: gost

Manual setup will be sent to your email account.
