Communications services and telecommunications industry play an important role in social and economic development. That is why we have an obligation to do business with integrity, act according to our Code of Conduct and therefore contribute to an open business climate. At Telenor we believe that good corporate governance is an essential tool for achieving our vision, creating values and strategic goals, complying with our values and for maintaining good corporate culture. The Group Management is responsible for ensuring the existence of internal rules, procedures and structures that can efficiently secure value creation for all stakeholders and where authority and responsibilities are clearly defined and mutually understood. We try to identify how telecommunications can deliver environmental and social benefits to society, and to find tools aimed at minimizing risks in this area regarding the governance of the Company’s operations. That is why we pay attention to responsibilities towards our employees, responsible environmental and supply chain management.
We care for health, security and ecology
Our programme of care for health, security and preservation of the environment – “Business Assurance” aims at pointing to the importance of observing the occupational safety and health and human rights laws, and especially the protection of the child’s rights to our suppliers and business partners. In May 2008 we launched this programme after reports of the Danish TV on unacceptable conditions, pollution and employment of minors on the construction of our base stations in Bangladesh. We reacted by initiating the formation of teams in all countries in which operate, which are in charge of the following three areas:
application of legal regulations in cooperation with business partners;
introduction of rules and procedures that will additionally raise awareness on the importance of health, safety and environmental protection;
informing the employees and business partners on this subject.
All Telenor Serbia employees have attended training of occupational health, security, safety and environment. This year, we made opportunity to all our business partners to perform this training and to get informed and align with basic principles of occupational health, security, safety and environment in Telenor, simply by following the next link.

Apart from a stricter procurement procedure and introduction of additional ecological and anti-corruption procedures in all company systems, we have organised numerous trainings for employees, special medical check-ups for specific work positions, mammograph examinations, distribution of leaflets on occupational safety and precautionary measures for specific categories and monitoring of the application of regulations in Telenor d.o.o.
In September 2009, under a decision of Telenor Group, Business Assurance teams have become our permanent organisation in all operating countries. Local teams mutually cooperate closely and constitute a clearly defined operative network. One of the teams is Telenor Serbia Business Assurance team, consisting of responsible persons and operative group of ten experts.
